Description
The Sauder School of Business is Canada’s premier research business school with internationally-renowned faculty who are at the forefront of management thinking. In January 2010, the UBC MBA Program opens its doors to its new home at the Robert H. Lee Graduate School, a $65-Million project that features a dedicated wing for MBA students, new facilities for the Business Career Centre, and a Leadership Centre. MBA House, a dedicated residence for up to 81 UBC MBA students, opened in August 2009.
The UBC MBA at the Sauder School of Business has been designed to meet the demands of our competitive and increasingly complex business world. Starting with the award-winning Integrated Core, our intensive 15-month Full-time program is built around a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that will enhance your leadership abilities. Using lectures, case studies, problem-based learning and group projects, our MBA prepares you to manage, motivate, innovate and lead.
The 3.5-month Integrated Core provides an intensive foundation in finance, marketing, accounting, human resources, statistics, managerial economics and information systems. It is team-taught as one comprehensive course to mirror the complexity of the global business environment. Individual subject areas are taught separately and from an integrative perspective to help develop students’ understanding of the true multi-dimensional nature of business. Students develop a broad-based, senior-level strategic approach to business decision-making, as well as collaborative and leadership skills.
Following the Integrated Core, students can enhance their marketability by enhancing the depth of their specialization or to broaden their skill set through a range of more than 90 elective modules in 14 different subject areas. Students have the opportunity to link business theory with business reality by completing either a three-month internship with an organization or an industry project, supervised by a faculty member, that is related to their area of specialization.
The Career Development Program (CDP) is dedicated to enhancing students’ personal effectiveness through seminars, workshops, guest speakers, discussion groups, networking events, career coaching and self-directed activities. Valuable skills taught during CDP include time and meeting management, presentation skills managing multicultural teams and conflict resolution as well as career management tools.
The UBC MBA program offers students a global perspective through specialized international courses, interaction with the multicultural student body and faculty and participation in one of many MBA exchanges. UBC has established exchange agreements with 31 leading business schools in 24 different countries around the world.
The UBC MBA program commences annually in at the end of August, with optional preparatory coursework (International Students’ Program and Pre-Core) starting in July.
Admission to the UBC MBA requires a prior university degree from an accredited institution, with a strong academic record and a competitive GMAT score.
