Yes. Experts’ Global’s 15 GRE practice tests are adaptive, like the official GRE. The first Quant and Verbal sections are of average difficulty, and the second sections depend on your performance in the respective first sections.
Each of the 15 GRE mock tests by Experts’ Global follows the same section-level adaptive mechanism used on the official GRE. The first Quant and Verbal sections are of moderate difficulty, just as they are on test day. After that, the test responds to your performance. Your results in the first Quant section determine the difficulty of the second Quant section, and the same process applies to the Verbal sections. When your performance is strong, the second section becomes more demanding. That is a positive signal, because high GRE scores are usually linked with strong performance on higher difficulty questions.
Your Quant and Verbal sectional scores reflect your overall performance across the two subsections. The scoring process evaluates both the number of questions you answer correctly and the difficulty levels of those questions, just as on the GRE. The scoring algorithm behind these tests is modeled on the estimated official GRE scoring algorithm and has been refined, calibrated, and recalibrated many times using performance data from a large number of real GRE candidates. The result is a fair and dependable evaluation that clearly shows your true GRE level.

On the GRE, you receive two Quantitative Reasoning sections and two Verbal Reasoning sections. The first section of each measure begins at a moderate level of difficulty. Your performance in this first section determines the difficulty of the second section of the same measure. If you perform well, the GRE assigns a more difficult second section. If your performance is weaker, the second section becomes less difficult. This structure is known as section-level adaptive testing and allows the GRE to evaluate your ability more accurately across different difficulty levels.
The GRE uses section-level adaptive testing to estimate a candidate’s ability more accurately. In Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning, the difficulty of the second section depends on performance in the first section of the same measure. Strong performance leads to a more difficult second section, while weaker performance leads to a less difficult one. This structure allows the test to adjust the level of challenge while still letting you review and change answers within each section, making the evaluation both fair and reliable.
A common challenge in GRE preparation arises from the adaptive nature of the test. On the GRE, you receive a difficult second Quant or Verbal section only when you perform well in the first section of that measure. In the early stages of preparation, many students do not yet perform strongly in the first sections. As a result, the test assigns an easier second section. This can create a misleading sense of the level of difficulty you must eventually handle in order to achieve a high GRE score. In this way, the same adaptive design that ensures fair evaluation can slow down skill development during preparation.
The practical question then becomes clear: how do you practice for high difficulty sections before the GRE begins assigning them to you? The answer lies in deliberate practice at higher levels of challenge. First, you should practice with high difficulty topic wise GRE quizzes. In the Experts’ Global GRE prep course, you receive more than 200 topic wise quizzes, including more than 70 quizzes marked high difficulty, while the rest provide mixed difficulty practice. Second, you should practice through high difficulty sectional mock tests. Experts’ Global provides 60 GRE sectional practice tests designed for focused practice on individual sections; let us elaborate…
While our full-length tests follow GRE-like adaptive functionality, our 60 GRE sectional practice tests allow you to practice on high difficulty GRE sections by default. The odd numbered Quant and Verbal tests (1, 3, 5, …19) correspond to the first Quant and Verbal sections on the GRE and are therefore set at moderate difficulty, just as they are on test day. The even numbered Quant and Verbal tests (2, 4, 6, …20) correspond to the second Quant and Verbal sections on the GRE and are deliberately set at high difficulty, by design.
This structure reflects the purpose of sectional mock tests, which is concentrated practice on a particular section. Since students who score well on the GRE encounter a difficult second section, practicing on a high difficulty second section prepares you for the level of difficulty you face on the GRE while scoring well on the test.
