You may use the optional essay for one or more of the following purposes:

• To address anomalies that may exist in your application or additional information you would like to share with the Admissions Committee.
• If you are requesting a GMAT/GRE waiver (see program requirements), we ask that you use this essay to make that request. Test waivers require candidates to demonstrate strong academic performance and/or advanced degrees supporting confidence in the candidate’s quantitative aptitude and general ability to successfully perform the requirements of the program.
• If you are a re-applicant, you are required to submit the optional essay to address why you are reapplying, as well as how you are a more competitive applicant since your original application.

Please note that it is not a requirement to complete the optional essay.
