Here is a snapshot of the vital information for the applicants
We want to know what matters to you, and our essay question is designed to help us gain insight into your background, passions, motivations, responsibilities, ideals, identities, challenges, or aspirations, depending on where you take your response. To ensure that you’re able to write about something important to you, we offer you three essay prompts from which to choose:
Describe the biggest commitment you have ever made. Why is this commitment meaningful to you and what actions have you taken to support it?
Describe the community that has been most meaningful to you. What is the most valuable thing you have gained from being a part of this community and what is the most important thing you have contributed to this community?
Describe the most significant challenge you have faced. How have you confronted this challenge and how has it shaped you as a person?
Choose the prompt that speaks most strongly to you and about which you have the most enthusiasm. In answering the prompt–whichever one it is–you should think about the life experiences that have been most meaningful to you and that you most want to communicate to the committee, and pick the question that will best allow you to express that aspect of yourself. We find that the most compelling essays are the ones that are truly important to you, so make sure that’s your guide in choosing what to write about; don’t try to guess what we’re looking for or what you think we want to hear. Importantly, regardless of which prompt you choose, you’ll want to support your essay with concrete examples.
The word limit (though not necessarily the goal) is 500 words.

Yale was founded in 1700 as the Collegiate School for “Public employment both in Church and Civil State.” In 1716, the trustees decided to move the school to a more hospitable location-New Haven. In 1718, the School was renamed as Yale College in honor of the contributions made by Elihu Yale. The College survived the American Revolutionary War and grew steadily in the first 100 years of its formation. The nineteenth and twentieth centuries saw the establishment of graduate and professional schools, thus, making Yale a true university. The School of Management got established in 1974.
Like all great research universities, Yale has a tripartite mission: to create, preserve, and disseminate knowledge. Yale aims to carry out each part of its mission at the highest level of excellence, on par with the best institutions in the world. Yale seeks to attract a diverse group of exceptionally talented men and women from across the nation and around the world and to educate them for leadership in scholarship, the professions, and society
The Yale MBA program offers an integrated curriculum, where students are able to understand how business decisions impact a company, industry or an economy. The core management courses and electives help the students understand the working of the whole organization and how the various functional disciplines of business are interconnected. The program enhances the analytical capabilities of the students and enables them to take on increasingly complex business challenges in the future. The Leadership Development program LDP commences in the first year and works at four levels-individual level, interpersonal/team level, organizational level and global level. The LDP works at a personalized level by encouraging the students to develop and implement their own leadership plan. The leadership plan comprises of leadership practicum projects that may be in the form of club leadership or creating a new event for the school or engaging in community service or launching a business venture. A regular assessment happens through a unique assessment tool and the students receive professional guidance throughout the project. The entire experience enables the students to develop a vision and strategy that would prepare them to lead across boundaries.
The Raw Case Approach presents the students with extensive data about a real world business situation through a web-based platform that includes video interviews with some of the key actors. The approach discards the traditional 10-page narrative that would lead to a single decision point. The web-based design contains huge amount of information in contrast to the 10-page narrative. Students work in teams to sift through the data and perform deep-rooted analysis of the raw case to arrive at a sustainable solution. The Case Research and Development Team CRDT collates material for the Raw Case Approach covering a broad spectrum of topics. CRDT brings case-materials from a variety of sectors, geographic locations and cultures that present management dilemmas and the current trends in the emerging markets. This new and unique approach allows the students to scan through the data, pick up relevant information coming from various sources and analyze the entire material.
Yale aims at building a global perspective among the students on a variety of issues such as political, legal, social, business and environmental through numerous international study opportunities. The International Experience Course presents a leader’s point of view on the global business environment. A 10-day trip to one or more business capitals at the end of the course is an excellent opportunity for the students to connect with business executives of the visiting company and political leaders of the country. The Global Social Enterprise and the Global Social Entrepreneurship courses are the elective courses with an international focus, where students provide consulting services to an organization belonging to another geographic location and connect with the social entrepreneurs of the region. The Global Network Week gives an opportunity for the students to delve into the specialization of their interest at an international location semi-annually. Students can also enroll and get benefited from the semester-long exchange program that gives them deeper insights into the business, economy and culture of the host country.
The School is located in New Haven in the state of Connecticut, which is known as the “Cultural Capital of Connecticut.” Originally, the city was the hub of manufacturing industries, but post war-period, it witnessed rapid industrial decline. The Knights of Columbus, Hubbell and Amphenol are the Fortune 1000 companies based in New Haven. The city houses an electric mix of ethnic restaurants featuring cuisines from all parts of the world. New Haven-style pizza called “apizza” is the signature dish of the city. The Yale Repertory Theatre, the Long Wharf Theatre and the Shubert Theatre are some of the must-visit places for theatre and drama lovers. New Haven Green has been a host to several free music concerts and the annually held Jazz Festival is one of the longest running free outdoor festivals in the U.S.
The Career Development Office provides abundant resources and tools for the students to spearhead their careers towards their goals. Students receive valuable guidance from industry experts through the Career Immersion program that help the students explore their career paths. A series of self-assessments followed by presentations from the alumni and second-year students enable the students to choose their career paths depending on their goals and market opportunities. There are extensive workshops on resume and cover letter writing, networking, negotiation strategies, interview skills and job search process. The career advisors provide one-to-one guidance to each student and conduct mock interviews to improve their response.
