The Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick was founded in 1929 in Newark, NJ by the name of Seth Boyden School of Business. In 1934, the School became a part of the newly formed University of Newark and was renamed as School of Business Administration. The School acquired AACSB accreditation in 1941, thus marking its excellence in the field of management education. In 1946, the School became a part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The MBA program was launched in the year 1950.

The traditional full-time MBA program of the School is ranked as the number one Public MBA program of the New York City region. Calculus and Statistics workshops are held in the first semester, so that students are competent with calculus, statistics and computer skills that are integral for their success as a business leader. The MBA Office of Career Management OCM helps students become competitive candidates for internship and full-time job opportunities through its Career Management Program CMP Course. OCM partners with companies who visit the campus and conduct corporate presentations. This is followed by full-time job and internship opportunities to the students who clear the on-campus interviews. Students get access to resources such as Simplicity, where the latest job and internship opportunities are posted. Vault and WetFeet are online databases, where students can get all the information pertaining to an industry or a particular employer. OCM conducts a self-assessment for each student in order to identify their career interests, goals and skills. OCM additionally trains students on effective job hunt techniques negotiation strategies and developing a winning resume. Mock interviews conducted by career coaches are video-recorded and can be viewed later by the students in order to improve their response.
