...for what may lead to a life altering association!
In the earlier lessons, we covered an overview of the GRE Analytical Writing section, the importance of building an approach for attempting it, and the value of developing your own essay template. We also covered time management for the section, the right size for the essay response, and practical guidelines and tips that support high scores. Now it is time to practice by bringing these learnings together on an official GRE Analytical Writing essay topic.
The following video lesson, part of our GRE prep course, demonstrates how to apply the learnings from the previous lessons on a GRE style Analytical Writing response. Take time to understand this firsthand application, carry the key learnings into your own style, and apply them throughout your GRE preparation and Analytical Writing practice.
The surest indicator of a great nation is represented not by the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists, but by the general welfare of its people.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

We deliberately do not show a ready made essay because the goal is to protect the way your thinking develops about what a good essay looks like. There is no such thing as a single correct essay, and seeing a finished response too early can shape expectations in a narrow way. This approach keeps your thinking open, flexible, and aligned with how Analytical Writing actually works.
Your original style matters. The character you bring to your writing, your natural way of expressing ideas, and even a sense of rawness play a meaningful role. These elements reflect authenticity, and that authenticity actively helps during the exam. When writing feels true to you, ideas flow more clearly and the response feels more real and grounded.
The focus here is to guide you on Analytical Writing by helping you develop the correct approach and by giving you raw inputs that support growth. From there, your own writing style takes over, and that always works in your favor. The hope is that this philosophy feels clear and fair, and that you recognize the correctness and honesty behind this way of preparing.
